Knife of the Year

This is truly beautiful to me. The American Bladesmith Society presents the 2016 International Master Smith Knife of the Year by Master Smith Rodrigo Sfreddo, Nova Petropolis, Brazil. The skill and artistry of Sfreddo is shown in this video about the making of this knife. This “Modern Gaucho” knife with integral construction was forged in Damascus steel in a “W” pattern with gold inlay stamp. The handle is in his Keyhole style, with hidden tang and polished border, and desert Ironwood handle.

Coin Ring

I have seen rings made out of coins before and was curious as to how the effect was achieved. Thanks to this channel I can not only have my questions answered, but I can actually have a try myself. I wonder how UK coins would come out. If I ever get around to it I will post the results here.

Classical Mash

Grant Woolard has very cleverly woven together 57 famous classical tunes by 33 composers and it sounds way better than you might think. How many can you identify?

Glob Blocks

This one is probably best described by the chap that created it, Alan Wagner...
I was hired by my friend's entrepreneurial uncle to make an infomercial for a new toy he had invented called Glob Blocks. His only instruction was to make it "viral", so I thought he wanted something like this, but I was very wrong. He strongly disliked the video and declined to use it for the purpose of promoting his children's plaything. To this day I can't figure out for the life of me why.
Of course that's not true but it made me roar with laughter so I hope you like it too.

Playing With The Ground

Hold on to your hats as you're in for a ride. An impressive video of some seriously low level parachute runs. I wonder what the margin for error is.

Da Da Da Drone

A spectacular display of drone technology by Intel Corporation involving 100 of the small aircraft being launched skywards in formation has earned a new world record title for the most Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) airborne simultaneously. All this whilst syncing a light display with a live rendition of Beethoven's 5th Symphony.

Spellbound

There are so many crafts that that are on the brink of extinction in this modern age and bookbinding by hand is one of them. Watching this process is some how relaxing and if you're a bibliophile like me, you'll be fascinated and just want to touch the beautiful end result.

Blind Covers

I think this would make a great TV show. Blind Covers is a new YouTube series that presents a band with the lyrics of a song they have never heard of before and asks them to produce their own interpretation. This is episode two and sees Town In The City (now called The Mosaics) come up with their version of Independence Day by Martina McBride. I look forward to seeing more episodes.

What Makes It?

The hype over Star Wars has reduced a little now, well until next year anyway. So whilst it is quiet it might be worth a moment to pause and ask what makes "Star Wars" so special? Oscar Boyson explores the question.

Knife Skills

Oh how I wish I had the skill and patience to do this. As I teach both Forest School and Bushcraft I often use a knife and to make my own as beautiful as this would be fantastic.
