My woodworking skills are not the best but I think I might give this a try. It looks simple enough to create an interesting artefact that can be a talking point at parties.

Creepy Or Cute?
Despite this being a rather venomous spider, somehow the following video makes it look cute. According to YouTube user DJAlMighty247, it lives on sand and dust, and most of the time just underneath it. This is also the way it hunts, just waiting for something to pass by. I just love the way it looks to be getting real comfy.

I'll Get The Ice Creams
I'm sorry that I have been a little too busy to post the last few days. I promise to try harder. :-)
Enjoy this wonderful short cartoon from the BBC. A comedic look at the dangers of leaving your children in the care of their father whilst you go to get ice cream.

Travelling iPhone Sends Postcards Home
| iPhone 2g, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4 (Photo credit: reticulating) |
It's unclear whether Nelson has any idea that the photos are automatically uploading and it's also unclear whether Nelson actually stole the phone, he may have unwittingly bought the phone from someone. But she has shared some of the pics on Facebook (an album that has been extensively re-shared) and informed Disney so if Nelson is guilty I'm sure it won't be long before he is caught.

Spock's Address
No I don't know where he lives (Vulcan?), but I do want you to watch this. 81 year old Leonard Nimoy was asked to give the Fine Arts Convocation address at Boston University recently, he didn't hesitate to agree. With some Star Trek jokes he gives a very heartfelt speech about his life that is a joy to listen to.

Seabird
Most concepts never make it to the real world because the designer has just too good of an imagination. But the following is composed of technology that all exists now, so here's hoping. Seabird by Mozilla is a concept for a smartphone that has me drooling. Look out for the nod to the IT Crowd. More info here.

Wake Up!
I love the way that some folks on the Internet can take something and respond to it in a great new way. The following video went viral a while back. It features a young chap being woken up by his favourite Nirvana track as he seems to drum himself awake. Cool by its self, but the response on YouTube cracked me up.

Avoiding The Olympics
I'm not sure if you've heard or not, but the Olympics are being hosted in London next month. I'm actually quite looking forward to them but with the constant TV coverage for what seems to have been years now, even I am getting a little weary of it all. Thankfully the people at a well known insurance comparison website (not strangers themselves to constant TV exposure) have released a handy guide on how to avoid the games. Click to enlarge.

CN Tower
As some of you will know, this time last year I was lucky enough to visit Canada. One of the most memorable parts of my trip was up the CN Tower. Despite bad weather, the views were stunning and I cannot describe how amazing it felt to be that high up.
This shot was taken from the bottom on a previous day when the weather was much nicer. The main "disc" you can see is not the highest you can visit, but it does hold the infamous glass floor.
This shot was taken higher than that disc in what is known as the Sky Pod. I'm quite proud of this as it was the shot I was most looking forward to getting even before I left the UK.
Here is a short video of the highlights of my trip up the tower.
Fortunately or not, I can't decide, the following attraction was not yet open at the time of my visit. What is known as the Edge Walk looks amazing. I certainly wouldn't have wanted to try during the electrical storm we were treated to, but perhaps on a fine day. Who knows?

The Auld Triangle
How about a musical interlude whilst I run around trying to keep up with my life? :-) With a big thanks to my friend Roo, please enjoy two of Ireland's greats. Glen Hansard and Bono singing the traditional ballad The Auld Triangle at The Living Room, NYC, May 8 2012. Having spent some time in Mountjoy Prison (for work purposes I hasten to add) I can confirm that the huge metal triangle once used to wake the prisoners still hangs in "The Circle" to this day.

Save Undershaw
Undershaw, the former home of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle is under threat of demolition. Don't let the legacy of the Sherlock Holmes creator be another example of this country's heritage that gets lost to greed.

Video Puzzle
This must be the ultimate exercise in patience. This video shows MysteryGuitarMan playing an instrumental cover of We Are Young by Fun. But it is the video itself which is fascinating. Using four iPhones and some clever choreography to arrange the devices in time with music. Apparently this was the take 238!

MC Play
As I am sure you have heard by now, Adam Yauch (aka MCA) of The Beastie Boys passed away at the tragically young age of 47 last week. Of all the tributes I have heard, this one from Coldplay appeals to me the most. At their concert at the Hollywood Bowl, Chris Martin and the boys put a distinctly Coldplay-ish spin on the Beasties' breakthrough hit "(You Gotta) Fight for Your Right (to Party)," transforming it from a party banger into a delicate piano ballad.

BRAD
UC Berkeley student Derek Low has created what might be the most awesome dorm room ever. He calls the room "BRAD," which stands for "Berkeley Ridiculously Automated Dormroom" and he's programmed it to do everything from waking him up in the morning to turning out the lights for him at night. In my opinion every building should have an emergency party mode.

Years
Who knew that trees were emo? Bartholomäus Traubeck had the original idea of turning the rings on a tree trunk into the grooves on a vinyl record and playing them on a turntable. A PlayStation Eye camera replaces the stylus and Ableton Live software interprets the rings into a haunting piano piece that wouldn't be out of place in a tragic film.
